The power of multinational companies has grown enormously over the last 30 years, but very little has been done to make sure they play fair in developing countries.
From garment factories in Bangladesh, mines in South Africa and India, to farms in Costa Rica, time and again ActionAid has found local communities and the environment losing out when powerful companies move in.
The Human Rights Council is the UN body responsible for taking action on human rights violations. This June the council will decide how to take forward its work on the human rights impacts of business.
